Your local greenhouse

Our business began as a seasonal operation outside the Bonnie Doon Mall (an open air strip mall at the time) and operated every spring until 1956 when the first greenhouse was built at 34 Street and 38 Avenue. In 1987, the greenhouse moved to its current location and is now welcoming the community of Tamarack Common as its new neighbour!

Over the years, the range of products the greenhouse grows has changed, but bedding plants and vegetables remain the bread and butter of our business. We stock a selection of flowering and green indoor plants year round and grow seasonal flowers for Christmas and Easter. Plants for the spring are being planted by mid-March and the greenhouse is always full by May 1st.

As a small family business that relies on seasonal sales, we know the importance of our community. We hire people that live nearby. We host field trips from neighbourhood schools, preschools, and clubs. We help fundraise for local teams and organizations, and are always working to stay connected to the community.

Most importantly, we care about our plants and take pride in how great they look when you take them home. Every day, the entire greenhouse is hand watered which gives us a chance to inspect for insects, fungus, and other disease so that our customers have the healthiest and longest lasting plants possible. Our knowledgeable staff have decades of combined experience and can help you find anything in what sometimes seems like a jungle of plants and people during the May/June rush. Front-end staff can answer most questions about gardening and are always eager to help load your plants securely into your vehicle so they stay safe for the drive home.

Custom Planters

Custom planters are our specialty! If you have pots you want filled with flowers but don’t want to lug the bags of soil around to get them planted yourself, bring them in and we can do all the work for you.

Walk through the greenhouse and take a look at the colours and see what you like. If you're unsure what you want, our staff can make suggestions for shady/sunny/hot locations to ensure you get the right plants for you. We can begin planting so your containers can be taken home as close to the May long weekend as weather permits.

We recommend leaving the pots with us for at least a week to ensure they transplant well and so we can replace them if they do not perform. Cost is determined by volume of pot and value of plants. Come in today to check out selection and get a quote.
